ETS passes lower house


The Federal Government’s emissions trading bill passed through House of Representatives Thursday, moving next to the Senate where it is widely expected to fail. The passing comes as an account of the country emissions over the past 17 years – prepared for UN climate change convention – showed an overall 82% growth. The numbers underscore the need for emissions trading, said climate change minister Penny Wong.
